1900's

  • Vaj Yis Toua, one of our great grand father, leaded a group of Hmong set up a Hmong party name "Deer Party", in Dong Penh, Hu Yang province, revolted against "Black Flag" troops of Ha Quoc Tuong from China.

 

Ha Giang province (Hu Yang)

  • Vaj Yis Toua died, his brother Vaj Zoov Lung (Vuong Chinh Duc) was a secrectary in the "deer Party" then replaced.

  • Viet Nam was set under the rule of the French.
  • Vaj Zoov Lung leaded Hmong in Dong Penh fought agaisnt French for 10 years.

1903

  • The French employed Bao Lac's Ruler, set a way from Bao Lac, Cao Bang province, occupied Dong Penh.
 
  • 1903, the Yee ( Tay ethnic ) had done their ruling government in Dong Penh.

  • Under the governing of French and Bao Lac's Ruler, there were inequitable policies:
Cao Bang province.
+ All Hmong people had to be coolies for expanding roads, construction...
  + Opium prices downed at lowest rate. Hmong could only able to grow opium at a limit. Markets are reserved for Chinese only...
   

1909-1913

  • Those rough policies reached the end of the line, Vaj Zoov Lung gathered Hmong together, the Hmong armament started the rebellion from 1909 to 1913.

 
     

1910-1911

  • Vaj Zoov Lung combined with Xyooj Mee Chang force, a Hmong Hu Yang leader in Ma Lo mountain, in the fighting with French.
 
   
 
  • October 1913, French-Hmong agreement signed in Dong Penh:

 
     
  + Indochina Lieutenant-General Peregrin (?), represented French government.  
  + Vaj Zoov Lung ( Vuong Chinh Duc), represented Hmong.  
     
     
  • This is the end of the First Resistence of Hmong against French in Dong Penh.

   

 

 

 

1917

  • Indochina Lieutenant-General announced: convened all Hmong clans's representatives to a meeting in Laos, on October 1918; in order to resolve French-Hmong matters.

  • Hmong Viet Nam and Hmong Laos laid heads together and conceived that French was very strong, while Hmong was weak. Hence, this meeting was about to tie Hmong down and be more subordinated to French's rule.

1918

  • Accordingly, Indochina Hmong and Hmong in Southern Yun Nan-China mutinied against the French:
 
 

- Yaj Pa Chay (Batchay) in Laos

 
 

- Hang Toua Yaw in Mun Dong, Southern Yun Nan, China

- Vaj Zoov Lung, Dong Penh, Hu Yang, NorthEast Viet Nam.

Altogether, they united at the same time to the outbreak.

 
   
 
  • The French and Yun Nan province's ethnarch stood in with eachother, ended up the rebellion
 
     

1921

- Yaj Pa Chay was arrested, The French delivered him up to the King of Laos, beheaded, threw body off, buried head under the earthen tower in Luang Prabang, Laos.

 
 

- Hang Toua Yaw died in the battle, his children escaped, their generations are still in Yun Nan, Chi Na at the moment.

 
 

- Vaj Zoov Lung was captured, sent to Hoa Lo prison, in Ha Noi.

1924

  • In Dong Penh, Hu Yang, Hmong movements continuously strived against Vaj Zoov Lung arrestment.
 
  • French had to release Vaj Zoov Lung, soothed the case.

 

 

1936

  • Hmong Dong Penh attacked French unsuccessfully.

 
 

 

1938

  • Vaj Zoov Lung was captured again in Ha Noi.

 
     
 
  • Vaj Txiaj Lwm went to Ha Noi managed to rescue father.
 
 
  • Vaj Txiaj Lwm joined a Horse Race, won a bet at 1,000 Dong Indochina currency ( at that time, 1 Dong = 60kg rice) and met Demongpera (?), the Racing Horses's boss.
 
 
  • Demongpera invited Vaj Txiaj Lwm to home and promised to help Vaj Zoov Lung out of the prison with the 1st charge at 800 Dong Indochina currency.
 
 
  • One month later, Demongpera gave Vaj Txiaj Lwm a release.
 
     

1938

  • Vaj Zoov Lung was paroled:

 
  -1.Cancel Hmong self-government in Dong penh, Hu Yang.  
  2. Impounded Hmong office turning into a French resident school.  
     
     

 

   

World War II

 
Viet Nam - China borders

1941

  • Tuong Gioi Thach ( Sun Yat-Sen - 孙中山) of Guo Min Dang ( The Chinese Nationalist Party)'s force gained upon China-North Viet Nam's border.
  • Guo Min Dang force defeated French, French withdrew.
 
  • Vaj Zoov Lung's troops defeated Guo Min Dang
 
  • Vaj Zoov Lung invited French coming back Dong Penh, laying a scheme of co-operating with French in order to conquer Guo Min Dang force.
  • French had the same idea.
     
 
  • Japanese landed Indochina, French-Hmong united against Japanese
     
 
  • Coup d'état of Japanese, French left Hmong on their own, withdrew to China.
 
   
  • Hmong made the fight with Japanese.
  • Lately, Japanese signed an Agreement with Hmong, so that Hmong let them by moving forward to Yun Nan, China.

1. Hmong kept their own self-governing.
2. Japanese retreated out of Hmong zone.
3. Japanese compensated Hmong for war fees in money and salt.
4. Whether or no, Hmong musn't intervene Japanese operations out of Hmong zones.

1945

  • Japanese surrendered to the Allies in August 1945,
 
  • August 25th 1945, Bao Dai, Vietnamese feudal system's King, abdicated.

 
Japanese surrendered the Allies.
  • September 2nd 1945, The Communist Viet Minh under Ho Chi Minh's leading asserted independence of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
